CREATIVE SABBATICAL

From the 1st July 2021 to 1st March 2023 Danielle Cresp embarked on an extended creative sabbatical!

What did this mean for her?

  • It meant Danielle took a chunk of time away from teaching/mentoring/directing/performing to deepen her own creative practices alongside incubating new ways of working.

  • It meant Danielle spent much less time in front of a computer or on a phone so it took a while for folks to get in touch with her and for her to get back in touch with them. Many people wrote letters (yes actual snail mail letters on paper) which she replied to.

  • It meant Danielle replied to correspondence, but not straight away, like she usually did.

  • It meant life slowed down A LOT and there were fewer plans made in the day.

  • It meant her daily life became simpler, healthier and there was time to stop and appreciate with wonderment.

  • It meant more time with plants.

  • It meant long early morning walks.

  • It meant writing with a pen and paper.

  • It meant deep reflection and meditation.

(March 2022: A short letter from Danielle):

“As some of you may have gathered via social media, I've been having a nourishing time on my creative sabbatical where I’ve been developing new ways to engage with my physical theatre improvisation practise whist also honing some older time-honoured ways of working, including some big life changes. I’ve been spending much less time on the computer and even less time on the phone which has meant a big reduction in my online presence. I'll be in my creative bubble until 1st March 2023. And, even though we won't be seeing as much of each other, rest assured you'll be hearing from me again in the near future with some things I hope you'll be keen to hear about! If you want to be 100% sure to receive an INVITATION to future projects send me a message with your postal address, YES!, I said POSTAL address.

Thank you all who’ve sent cards and letters. I love getting them! For those of you who want to send mail send it to:

POST OFFICE BOX 1154, KENSINGTON, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA 3031.

I’d be delighted to hear from you.

In the meantime I encourage you to support artists who are making art!

Now, more than ever, we need art !

Yours with warmth & good thoughts, Danielle”
